Read that Shaun Tan won the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. Checked out his work and I loved it. He gave an interview without words and just drew his answers. It inspired me to write a fictional piece.
I have always wanted to write a children's book using the 100 most used words and then the next 100 most used words. I've even thought of the title. It will start with The Great "Something".
Although I am struggling with plot and characters, I think the best way to start writing is to look around and write what is already there. One of the ideas is to perhaps think of how I have explained things to Jed and what has been successful. An example is division is sharing equally.

Deliberate Practice
Reading about deliberate practice, there was a passage that it is not just about repetition but also about feedback and correcting the imperfections. It is also about doing something outside the main task itself. For example to be a good presenter, you can learn singing to help with voice projection. I am now watching "Glutton for Punishment" and the host wants to learn how to pull noodles within a week. To help with his dexterity and control, he learns how to skip.

Jean Georges in New York
Went to New York and tried a prix fixe lunch at Jean Georges. We started off with an Amuse Bouche made up of watermelon and ginger, chicken soup and ginger and mozzarella and raspberry. Then we picked two dishes. I tried the sweet pea soup and the snapper. Both were wonderfully done. We then ordered desert. A garden desert and a strawberry desert...but we didn't have to because they end the meal with home made marshmallows which were soft and divine, macaroons which were out of this world (I am not a fan as they are far to sweet for my palate but these were wonderful) and we had a plate of chocolate pralines.
The staff was wonderful and introduced each dish before it started and what I can say - it is definitely one of the best restaurant!
Another gastronomical highlight was club 21. The wine was so beautiful. I had a red wine and it was one of the smoothest I have ever tasted. The crab cake was hearty and so chunky good. The fish was good. The desert was good. I tried my neighbour's cheesecake and it was the best. My own chocolate creation was too sweet. Pervez had fillet mignon and I tried it and it was great!! In his words, this is amazing and melts like butter.
